The Loudoun County Department of Family Services:

• Provides services to help residents in need become self-sufficient members of their families and communities
  
  
• Assists eligible families with child care and adoption services
  
  
• Provides foster care for children placed by the court or through official entrustment agreements
  
  
• Coordinates programs to help elderly residents with shopping, transportation and housework
  
  
• Investigates cases of abuse and neglect; conducts family counseling
  
  
• Provides nutritional and financial assistance to low-income families
  
  
• Offers community employment and training services
  
  
• Oversees the county's Youth Shelter and Juvenile Detention Center
